CITIZENS advocate Christina Marie “Tina” Sablan will run as an independent candidate for one of the six Precinct 1 seats in the House of Representatives. Sablan, 26, the youngest legislative candidate in this year’s elections, said she gave her decision much thought before filing her petition for candidacy on Monday. “It’s actually something that I have been toying with for the last week or so,” she said. “I was thinking about this a lot.” She said she wants to give the public the best service. “Win or lose I know that I’m going to learn a lot (from this),” said Sablan who has a degree in conservation science from the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico. Known for spearheading beautification and conservation efforts, as well for writing articulate editorials and tireless advocacy of clean and transparent government, Sablan was born and raised on Saipan.
