M64- WE CRY FOUL!

INSANITY PREVAILS AT CUC
Since the vote grubbing legislature and the 'we can't do the math' TTT reduced residential rates CUC has been in a tailspin. The downward spiral is picking up speed. A crash is inevitable and will happen soon.
The latest... Story Here
CUC increases fuel rate of non-residential customers
THE Commonwealth Utilities Corp.
has increased its electric fuel rate this month for its commercial, government, and non-conforming load customers. Based on CUC’s April schedule of electric charges and rates, the electric fuel rate for commercial, government, and non-conforming load was raised to $0.327 after the cost of fuel per barrel reached $132.
Why are the commercial customers being tasked with carrying the load? This is unfair and complete incompetence on the part of the legislature. Oh I know...We passed the buck to a 3 person PUCommission, yup its their baby now. For a government so obsessed with a mere .50 cent wage rate still allows the charges to be increased to the very businesses that can't afford a wage increase, so they say. So where is this all going? It will only be a short time until we know.
Rates need to be set by costs not who is buying it. All consumers should pay the same price, across the board. It costs the same to produce a KWh for everyone, so all should be charged the same.
RATES = COSTS... ACROSS THE BOARD....

Glen, that sounds nice, but that would be applying common sense. And judging from the crap I've been reading in the papers online, common sense is not too common these days, sadly...

I don't agree with the raising of commercial power rates, simply to cover the costs of residential rates, due to the excessive decrease by the legislature. But.. commercial and residential rates all over the United States are usually different. Residential rates are commonly looked at in a different light, as the power utilized is basic to a family's life needs.. they're not running ad-signs, their not running neon lights everywhere, they don't have photocopiers and fax machines, etc..

I don't necessarily think the commercial and residential rates should be exactly the same. There should be a little more thought put into it however. Simply jacking up the commercial rates, because their hands are currently tied where the residential rates are concerned is not the way to go.

What happened to volume discounts?
What happened to the CUC that was trying to force hotels to use their power not that long ago?

Lil, I don't necessarly agree with your line of thought as to the reasons commericial rates should exceed residental rates. However it still cost $XX.OO to produce a KWh. That must be the basis for setting the rates. But to have comm. double the res. rates is not fair. It is a complete farce, instigated by incompetent idiots.

I agree with you there Glen. And I definitely disagree with them inflating the commercial rates simply to make up for the low residential rates.
