M81- THE ROTA CASINO

ROTA CASINO: THE THRILL IS GONE, THE HONEYMOON IS OVER, THE FIGHT HAS STARTED, SIDES ARE DRAWN AND THE DIVORCE IS IMMINENT.
So reads the tale of the Rota Casino only months after being voted into existence. It won't get any better than it already has been. It will be all downhill from now on. The saving grace of this Rota Casino lies in the fact that it will never get off the ground. If a tree bears no fruit there can be no fighting over the spoils. Here's how it looks already today... Story Here...
Rota Municipal Councils Lobbying Against Casino Bill
Tension is brewing among Rota officials over who should have the power to appropriate the earnings of the island's future casino industry. The Rota Municipal Council is lobbying the governor to veto a House bill that would allow the Rota Legislative Delegation to appropriate casino gaming revenues. The council says it was expressly given that authority by the Rota Casino Act, which was overwhelmingly passed by the voters in November 2007.
“Needless to say, House Bill 16-1, HD1, is constitutionally flawed, infirm, unreasonable, and unfair,” the council told the governor in a letter.
So they're off to a flying start. Shit is already hitting the proverbial fan and feelings are starting to get hurt. They're already arguing over who gets the money even before there is any. Maybe the next step is going to court to resolve this issue. There goes the money to attorneys and the place hasn't started to materialize yet. I guess no one expecting to get rich quick will go down without a fight, so here we go! Remember this article, I'll be referring to it at a later date saying "I told you so", guaranteed!

Don't get me wrong, I wish Rota the best.. but the chances of a gambling venture ever profiting in Rota, at least in the near future, are slim to none. They're likely fighting over future profits that will never be.

The first thing they were asking for was $600,000 dollars from the government. Is the government going to be the operator? I don't think so, so why should the gov. subsidize their casino? The plan is to pay it back from the profits, yeah get it right.
Kinda makes me think of the 'new' fish market in Garapan that blew $150,000 and never got off the ground. What a waste!

$600,000? Hey, they could get that from the money Tinian Dynasty owes CUC! If Tinian Dynasty is in the shithole, what makes anyone think another casino will actually make money?

Biba koruption! Clean House in 2009!
