167- CANOEING IN THE PACIFIC

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF WAYS TO PROPEL A CANOE. EITHER WITH PADDLES OR WITH A SAIL.
Both of the canoes shown here are called outrigger canoes, the name derived from the outrigger attached to the canoe for stability. There are races scheduled periodically which consist of paddling clubs from around the area and other parts of the world.
These types of canoes are said to have brought the now local population to these island, years and years ago. These designs date way back to the ancestors of the present day natives of the islands.

Now just sail through this day!
