665- RAINBOW PUC

ARE WE NOW CHOOSING THE PUC COMMISSION BY RACE, ETHNIC GROUPS AND GENDER?
Fitial names 3 new nominees to PUCGov.:
Benigno R. Fitial has submitted three new names for the Public Utilities Commission. The governor has nominated businessman Clarence Tenorio Jr., attorney Viola Alepuyo, and business consultant Kyle Calabrese to serve as members of the utility regulatory commission.Tenorio and Calabrese will represent Saipan on the commission. Alepuyo will represent the women and Carolinian sectors. The story here..
Has the governor considered:
People with education and degrees in fields such as electrical and mechanical engineering, economics and the kind of requirements one would think was needed to oversee a bungled utility company. Business management is a definite plus on this commission, kudos for that insight. But is it really necessary Carolinians and women are represented on this critical commission that will try to correct the random slapstick method of CUC's operation and set your utility rates? Isn't the legislature doing a wonderful job at this by themselves? Why even organize a commission if you aren't going to choose qualified people? This is headed for a disaster before ever getting off the ground if he is using ethnics groups and gender as qualifications for being nominated to the PUC. Last month, the House of Representatives passed a bill lowering the requirements for PUC members. The bill was introduced amid the administration’s difficulty to find appointees eligible under the current law. If signed into law, House Bill 15-298 would be the second amendment to the PUC appointments law.
This is going to go down as another bad case of the dumb ass, more stupid government mismanagement, it's getting so tiring to even watch this anymore, I see this going nowhere as all the rest of most everything else this government deals with....
.....GED.....

Viola Alepuyo is an intelligent hard working individual. I agree that she shouldn't be selected for the reasons given, although it seems to be a standard requirement, not her fault. However she is in her 2nd career now as a succesful attorney in private practice. She was a public defender previously. Before law school she was in the army and worked as an avionics technition for helicopters. Yes it would be good if she had more specific experience, but let's face it, the pool of qualified applicants here is pretty small.
Sorry for entering as anonymous, can't be helped.

I am in no way belittleing any of the people chosen, I'm sure they are, as you mentioned, very good hardworking individuals, I am only questioning the reasons they were selected. If they are selected for the reasons gived there will need to be dozens of members. Who will represents the men, each ethnic group, contract workers, etc. I think you can catch my drift. Thanks for the comment...
