663- WHAT, POLITICIANS LIE?

POLITICIANS LIE ALL THE TIME... WHY?
Politicians lie because the public wants to be lied to:
The reasons politicians lie is because the public doesn't want to hear the truth. People want to hear what they want to hear. When two candidates are running and one of the tells the truth and the other says what the public wants to hear, the one who says what the public wants to hear wins the election. Thus, if you want to win an election, you better start lying, because the guy who's telling you the truth doesn't have a chance.
In a perfect world politicians wouldn't lie. But when the voters elect politicians who lie over those who tell the truth then the voters shouldn't be surprised when the politicians get caught being less that truthful. But in order for politicians to tell the truth, the voters are going to have to stop punishing honesty. The voters are going to have to be ready to face the truth and the hard decisions that the politicians have to face in passing fair laws that are good for the people. Some issues are tough issues and require tough choices and require a solution that is more complicated than a slogan. So when someone running for office tells you that CUC is a real issue and it's not going away on it's own, listen to him....... The Source of the Story
FYI.. So be informed, know what is the truth and what are lies, it's all up to you....

Generally you're right on.

But I don't know if that's so true here anymore. When things get bad enough, folks don't want to hear BS. Tina speaks the truth and I'm sure she'll do well. The legislature just lowered everyone's power rates, but I haven't heard too many people who are very happy about that.

Sooner or later reality sinks in, and as sad as the truth is.. people would rather hear that, than be fed more bullshit.

One question, Lil, Why do they keep voting for the same people, can't they see through their bullshit? I really believe the root of the problem lies with the selection of candidates to be on the ballot giving the people no choices other then the ones pre picked by the parties. The voters then only get to select from a minoritys choice of candidates. I should do a post on this but right now I totally fed up with this shit... I encourage you to keep on truckin' though.

There are considerably more candidates running as independents. This is a start. Used to be a time here that there was no way you could win as an independent. People are becoming less and less party affiliated. I think you'll see many newer faces after this election. This is somewhat of test election.. alot of independents and more new faces than we've seen in the past. Whether this translates to good governance remains to be seen.

Lil: The independents are only covnent members in disguise, ashamed of their own party's failures. They will reunite after the election is over, wait and see. Nothing will change.....Look at the polls on my blog, where are the new faces that you are talking about, I don't see them.

Why do they keep voting for the same people??? Because there are not enough here in the first place for the number of elected officials. Let's say 14000 voters. We have 29 elected positions (I think). That's less than one for every 500 voters. And we have elections every 2 years....it'll be my turn soon, so watch out :-))
