735- A GOVERNMENT JOB

GUESS THE GENIE KNOWS BEST...
A CNMI government employee sits in his office and out of boredom, decides to see what's in his old filing cabinet. He pokes through the contents and comes across an old brass lamp. "This will look nice on my mantle piece," he decides, and takes it home with him. While polishing the lamp, a genie appears. "For setting me free, I am granting you three wishes. So tell me what are they?" Genie asks.
"I wish I had an ice cold Budweiser beer right now! "He gets his beer and drinks it.
Now that he can think more clearly, he states his second wish.
"I wish to be on an island where beautiful young girls reside.
"Suddenly he is on an island with gorgeous females eyeing him lustfully and massaging his back.
He tells the genie his third and last wish,
"I wish I'd never have to work ever again."
POOF! He's back in his government office.
I think he kinda wasted the second wish since he was already on an island, don't ya think?
Maybe it was the beers.

Mongolia, this past week, signed a few agreements with the us. Mongolia, provides some good will and support in the big Iraq and at sea. They in in turn receive 250 odd million to build up transportation and education infrastructure. support and cooperation go a long way against plain obstructionism and lobbying. Wonder what sort of help that amount of dollars would do for the Cuc? Sadly, not enough, but I'm thinking the way things are going they may as well ask Taiwan for three wishes.

We can't.. in order to receive funds from another government, we must go through the State Department. They would never allow us to recieve funds from Taiwan.

Have to weigh what you are getting now against what you could get elsewhere and then change the agreement. Wouldn't be the first time the legislature changed the rules in mid-stream.

I was playing a bit fast and loose with my comment. Mongolia has contributed in numbers larger than their relative population, but the islands have given lives in a similarly disproportionate ratio.

I really feel, that the cnmi gov't has pushed the interior department, to the point of "no help here".

Think back to the days of the min wage and how the business' were going to make up for the raise in wage by charging the employee's for their five star housing and meals(the statements, as reported, at the time were a blatantly obvious skirting of the spirit of min wage increase) - add the waste of money to pr and lobbyists - the somewhat erratic statements by the gov when he was off his medication and S Torres when he was on his -and my point will become somewhat visible.

'sides, the way the casino law is written, I can't see investors flocking to the lovely Saipan shores. What were they thinking? It will be years, before the casino question can ever come close to the ballot again, given the pure crapness of the proposal. Or maybe not. the price of oil is still going up.

I can't recall off-hand the names but a couple of local politicians ripped Cohen pretty bad over the fedrelization deal. I would think also that they might just as well say screw 'um. They don't want to be a part of things but still hold their grubby hands out. Don't make sense.

Dammit, my connection is always dropping off just as I post a comment. and I can't retrieve it.
Screw it.

Nah, even if you are fighting a losing battle, don't drop down to the level where you are peeing down the trousers or shorts of the person you might quite likely need down the road.
Federal and local gov't employees aren't exactly the best and the brightest, but they will remember a slight for a damn sight longer than they will remember the plea of the best intentioned lobbyist. (Ha ha. Lobbyist, best intentions..) Of course, they are such easy targets, we all do it. Glad, I'm outside the jurid. of the dept of interior.

Hope Tina wins and there are a few more like her in the wings. Those with the balls to eliminate their bennies and possibly positions for the public good. We'll see if she has a pair down the road, but for now, at least her head is screwed on straight and she has enough of what it takes to say what needs to be said.

Looks Like the Absentees will decide whether Tina gets in, Mark. She is barely clinging to 6th, and last, place.

A notion about her and Cinta that I had not thought about until the surprising results came in...they are both after the same 'eco sensitive/government transparency voters so Tina entering the fray cost Cinta her seat.

Here is a suggestion, Mark, if your connection is unreliable. Draft your responses in Word, then transfer them, that way you won't lose a whole comment if the line goes down. I used to do that with email when I had a dial up back in the mid 90s...saved me a lot of frustration.

Thanks for coming out on Halloween, Glen. We had a good time. I'm going to post some of the pics tomorrow.

Lil is right...once the US govt gets it's hooks in, they won't be allowing any 'alternative financing' from a rival government.

Bruce your logic is still questionable. There were 6 Seats up for grabs in precinct #1 a voter did not have to "choose" between Cinta or Tina if they felt compelled to vote for both of them.
