733- CAMPAIGNING

CAMPAIGNING IN THE CNMI
I found this little story and it sure sounded really close to home...
It was election time and a politician decided to go out into the local community and try to get the people of the Northern Marianas Descent to vote for him. They were all assembled in the Civic Center to hear the speech. The politician had worked up to his finale, and the crowd was getting more and more excited. "I promise better education opportunities for NMD's. The crowd went wild, shouting "Biba! Biba!" The politician was a bit puzzled by the local word, but was encouraged by their enthusiasm. "I promise gambling reforms to allow a Casino on the island!" "Biba! Biba!" cried the crowd, stomping their feet." I promise more social reforms and job opportunities for NMD's!" The crowd reached a frenzied pitch shouting "Biba! Biba! Biba!"
After the speech, the Politician was touring the local ranches, and saw a large herd of bulls. Since he was raised on a ranch, and knew a bit about bulls, he asked the local farmer if he could get closer to take a look at the bulls. "Sure," the farmer said, "but be careful not to step in the Biba."
