Lower Power Rates Before Term's End
Gov. Benigno R. Fitial says he will reduce the power rates before he steps down next year. Asked about his plans for a possible re-election, the governor said he is not thinking of politics, as his main goal is to end the power crisis and lower the cost of electric service to the customers.
Now if you believe that I have a bridge to sell, it'll span from Saipan to Tinian.
“Before the end of my term, I will reduce the cost of power to the people,” said the governor, who won the 2005 election partly on a promise (lie) that he would scrap the fuel surcharge implemented by the Babauta administration. The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. did stop collecting the surcharge of 3.5 cents per kWh. However, it implemented a new power rate structure that nearly doubled the cost of electricity in the Commonwealth.
Damn we can't take another power cut if it's the same as the first one, could we? Doesn't this guy see through anything? It' ll be lots'a years and many politicians before the rates go down. Please note the date of this line of bullshit as it will definately come to light in the distant future.

So lets examine some reasons as to why he might make a ststement like this. He already said it wasn't for reelection purposes, so why say it. Did he just get a feel-good moment and decide to make everyone else feel good too? It would be much better if a statement like this came with a plan of action explaining how it was going to be done and not just an across the board blank statement, don't you think? Tell us how this will be done, a plan if you please.
Now here are my questions: Why say anything this stupid? Does this even need to be said at all? What good does it do to even make a statement like this? What the hell for? He could just keep his mouth shut and things would be the same without this bullshit. Don't make any sense to me!

'Water overdue for rate hike'
A consultant for the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. says adjustments to the water and wastewater rates may be overdue. Dan Jackson, managing director at Economists.com, told the Legislature on Tuesday that the current water and wastewater rates have been in place for too long.
So prepare to dig out that ever streached wallet and ante up again, it'll get worse before it gets better....
