M32- MY VIEW ON DEMOCRATS

THE DOG AND PONY SHOW HAS ARRIVED
Why does it seem the national democratic party in imploding? Here is a group of people wanting to run the country but can't even seem to organize themselves. Now you ask what's wrong, as if you can't see it for yourself...
How do you elect leaders by disenfranchising millions of voters in Florida and Michigan?
The two candidates keep bloodying each others noses, digging dirt, throwing mud and turning voters off.
The current front runner is being lynched by his own pastor. Not good at all..
No one will emerge a clear winner, there will be lots of hurt feelings.
The more this drags on the better the Republicans and future president John McCain look.
McCain is acting presidential, visiting foreign countries, talking to leaders while the Democrats argue which one of them is the best to do so.
During the mid-term elections the Democrats promised everything everyone wanted to hear, haven't done diddly shit yet, won't either. Remember how the Dem's were going to stop the war if they controlled congress, well, did they? bullshitters. Now they want to give up in Iraq, to surrender, arguing who can fuck up faster, just when things are starting to work for the better, another failure in the making. I see this sliding away from any hopes the Dem's have the longer this drags on, and it will drag, all the way to the Democratic convention, and from there to November it will be all bitter and hurt feelings. And, NO, there will NOT be a toofer* ticket.
Watch and wait!

Democrats fucked up things for sure. They attack each other and say bad shit bout each other and then the loser will support the winner? Fuck that... I'm voting Republican baby!

Jeff said...

Candidates bicker. It's what they do. And who gives a shit about some pastor. The Republicans have been in bad with insane clergy for the last decade with Falwell and Pat Robertson and all those lunatics.

Bickering is not all that big a deal compared to politicizing the justice department, invading the wrong country, bankrupting the country's finances and sitting with your thumb in your ass as a major American city gets destroyed.

While I agree McCain wouldn't be nearly as wretched as the last eight years, the last thing the world needs is another Republican in office.

Haoles leave Saipan! Your not wanted here! Shove that thumb up your ass haole. Maybe your gonna like it no? Biba Taotao Tano!

Jeff: Probably a lot of voters will give a shit about the pastor, or don't that count?
The great thing here is we all can have our opinions. I do know this, no American city or any part of the U.S. has been attacked since 9/11 and believe me they would if they could. Offense is the best defense!
You live here in one of the most unstable economies, if you want to call this an economy, and you bitch about the U.S. economy?

Jeff said...

There's a lot more riding on the U.S. economy of global importance than anything going on here, so I'm more concerned with a $9 trillion debt -- largely to China of all places.

As for the pastor, typical bullshit media non-issue. The pastor's not running for president.

You, of all people I would imagine, have to wonder how civilian command had Bin Laden cornered at Tora Bora, but let the Northern Alliance and not the U.S. Marine Corps try to take him out. The Northern Alliance didn't because they could give a shit less.

The Republicans were asleep at the switch when 9/11 happened. What's their slogan, "Not on our watch -- again." They've got to do something better than get rid of water and check shoes at the airport as well drop $3 trillion on the credit card for people who had nothing to do with 9/11.

i always wondered about the pastor thing. alot of hoohaw made about nothing. jeff has a point, why didn't we ever hear about the racist and homophobic rants of the pastors who were aligned with past republicans? it was never an issue then. or is it only because obama and the preacher are black? is that why it's an issue now? i believe it's an issue that's being driven. driven by conservative media. it's clearly racist. did you see what fauxnews ran this morning (on easter stateside)? they ran a snippet of a black kid breakdancing at the easter celebration at obama's (former) church. the two fauxnews personalities made some snide comment like, "did you see the celebration at.." right before the four seconds of breakdancing footage. what is the message they are trying to forward? it is - beware of black american culture - beware of obama.

clearly racist. clearly manipulation.

Put the shoe on the other foot and see what would be said if a 20 year and current member of the KKK was running for president. Think that would not be open for discussion? Go figure.

Jeff, you keep playing monday morning quarterback, comdemming past mistakes, and quiet rightly so. But there is no need to keep on making mistakes, as leaving Iraq would be now.
I suppose the people diving off the 105th floor of the WTC were happy Clinton had a robust economy, but didn't have a clue Bin Laden was a threat. Their last thought may have been, boy,I'm glad I've got a good health plan, thanks to Bill and Hillary.

What exactly is to be gained by continuing to play police officer, at great financial and human cost, not to mention the restrictions this imposes on other strategic priorities, to a bunch of religious extremists with slightly different views on Allah that have been dying to kill each other for centuries?

Who was in charge on 9/11?

Who set a record for vacation time and ignored the CIA Brief: "Bin Laden Determined to attack the United States?"

Who sat like a deer in the headlights reading My Pet Goat for seven minutes while we were under attack?

Who insisted on having not nearly enough troops to do the job right in the first place?

What the hell did Iraq have to do with 9/11?

Wasn't it Afghanistan, the place that gets ignored, the place that had the real problem, the one the security party blew off to help Dick Cheney's retirement account.

These are the people you want in charge -- still -- because of a loose assocation one candidate has with a kooky pastor that can distract a lot of people from issues that really matter?

You want kooky, how about a party with elected leaders that don't believe in the scientific fact of evolution -- pandering to open, willfull ignorance to cull votes from simpletons -- something far more embarassing than one old guy, not the candidate, being angry and extreme over racism, which was indeed a very serious problem, conservatively, through the sixties.

you've opened up a can of worms with a never ending bottom glen. the fact is, every single republican candidate in recent history has aligned themselves, and in fact depended on, the support of a body of outright racist and homophobic preachers, "family values" nitwits, pundits, and other politicians.

let's take just the preachers as example. The below quotes are from two individuals who have not only been closely aligned with the last four republican presidents, but in fact, were crucial to their victories.

we barely heard a peep about George Bush's alignment with the "moral majority" and these homophobe racist pastors.

the fact is, there is clearly a double-standard at work here. If Obama was white, and his pastor said "the black man hasn't given us anything. he needs to pull himself up by his bootstraps and get off of welfare...." it wouldn't even make the news.

mccain, who once "repudiated" these guys, doesn't anymore. In fact, here's an excerpt from a bill russert interview:

Tim Russert: "Do you still think Falwell and Robertson are still agents of intolerance?"
McCain: "No I don't."

here are a few of the statements made by those ?agents of tolerance? I refer to:

Pat Robertson on race/politics: I think "one man, one vote," just unrestricted democracy, would not be wise. There needs to be some kind of protection for the minority which the white people represent now, a minority, and they need and have a right to demand a protection of their rights.

Pat Robertson on slavery and arabs/muslims: To see Americans become followers of Islam is nothing short of insanity.... The Islamic people, the Arabs, were the ones who captured Africans, put them in slavery, and sent them to America as slaves. Why would the people in America want to embrace the religion of slavers.

JERRY FALWELL on 9/11 attack: “... the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way -- all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen." PAT ROBERTSON: "Well, I totally concur."

McCain advisor Pastor John Hagee, has preached that the Catholic Church is the Anti-Christ and Hurricane Katrina was because God was angry at the Gay decadence of Mardi Gras.

Jerry Falwell: “AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals.”

Jerry Falwell: “AIDS is the wrath of a just God against homosexuals. To oppose it would be like an Israelite jumping in the Red Sea to save one of Pharoah's chariotters.”

Pat Robertson: Individual Christians are the only ones really -- and Jewish people, those who trust God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob -- are the only ones that are qualified to have the reign, because hopefully, they will be governed by God and submit to Him.
-- The 700 Club television program, January 11, 1985, defending his stance that only Christians and Jews are fit to hold public office

Pat Robertson: Many of those people involved with Adolph Hitler were Satanists, many of them were homosexuals -- the two things seem to go together.

Anon, I guess you're right, this is a can of worms, shots are fired from everyside. I have nothing for all those pastors/preachers you mentioned either.
The bottom line....
None of this shit will matter anyway if we are overrun by terrorists, now will it? Security comes first, all else is mud if we aren't protected and secure.
Republicans will be the best fighters and protectors, Dems are runners and quitters.
Good night....
Jeff, with all due respect to you and your opinions we will never concur on much of anything on this subject. Other things we may be 'right on'. Have a nice evening....

Happy Easter Glen!

I was going to comment, but I don't think I have that much time:} Most has been said, one way or the other.

I will say that, being from a military family, a long line of every single generation, including two of my own kids now have served or serve in the armed forces, and a generally democratic family politically speaking, I don't think we want to cut and run from battles that need to be fought. Afghanistan for example needed to be fought. I think we do need to get out of Iraq and let them hash it out. All we are doing is postponing a civil war, that probably needs to be fought. Whether we are out tomorrow or out in five years.. as soon as we are out, the civil war will ensue in its full ferocity. It may be one they inevitably have to go through.

Aside from over 4000 US soldiers being killed, more Iraqis have been killed than those killed under Saddam's regime. For what? We had absolutely no reason to go in their, unless it was US policy to remove dictators. If that was the policy, it should have been stated at the get go. "The US will no longer tolerate evil dictators, and we are going to rid the world of them." A whole lot more of us would have been "on-board". I would have. After Iraq, North Korea, after North Korea, Iran, after Iran, Burma, and then the big mama China.

But that's not why we went in. Whether we leave today or in ten years.. the civil, religious and ethnic war will ensue.

As a military point of note.. the US needs to stop getting involved in "police actions". That is really what Iraq has turned into. We police. As a result, our troops are picked off, they don't know who is the enemy, they don't hold ground but go in and come out, only to have the bad guys retake the place they just lost lives over. NO. This needs to stop.

If a situation is worth getting us into a war over, then we need to fight the war with everything we've got. That means carpet bomb the place, destroy all of the enemy relentlessly, despite potential civilian casualties and worry about the survivors and rebuilding after it's all over with. Not unlike world war two. We weren't rebuilding French villages while our troops in France were still fighting the Germans!? This going in strategically, only to end up spending years on the ground as a police force is nonsense.

But we need to ensure that the wars we fight, are wars we need to fight, and when we do fight, we win overwhelmingly and quickly.

I guess my comment ended up longer than I supposed it would be.
