M43- THE REAL REASON

THEY BLAME THE REPAIRS... NOT SO

Everyone responsible for the power outages, casts the blame on engine repairs ongoing at CUC. But I think the real reason is is exposed in this short snippet of news in Sundays paper....

Due to the shortfall, CUC for instance failed to pay for a full 30-day fuel supply last month. Power outages are now occurring partly because CUC is stretching to last for 30 days the 23-day supply that it managed to purchase.

Now you may ask, "Who are the responsible parties wanting to cover their own asses by casting blame and pointing at something that may not be the real culprit? Well you see the vote grubbing legislature combined with the 'we can't do the math' TaoTao Tano, caused the lowering of residential rates below the costs of producing the power, therefore creating this deficit. This is the real reason we're having rolling blackouts, 'stretching a 23 day supply of fuel to last a month'.

That's it! That's the real reason for outages, not ongoing repairs as they may want you to believe. Now the 'we can't do the math either' house, the creators of a budget once every 4 years or so, who we depend on to be 'smart' enough to handle our finances have backpedaled once again. Trying to gloss over blatant mistakes that were so obvious at the time by bullshitting that they had the best interest of the people in mind. We saw this all along, who are they kidding?

Now my question is this, are you OK with this mess? Did they really help you out? Do you think your interest was the reason, or the greedy desire to be re-elected again? You don't need to answer that, we all know the reason without saying...

Enjoy the heat, darkness, inconvenience and loss of business, it's on your 'we can't do the math' leaders.

We've all had trouble with our animals, but I don't think anyone can top this one:
Calling in sick to work makes me uncomfortable. No matter how legitimate my excuse, I always get the feeling that my boss thinks I'm lying. On one recent occasion, I had a valid reason but lied anyway, because the truth was just too darned humiliating. I simply mentioned that I had sustained a head injury, and I hoped I would feel up to coming in the next day. By then, I reasoned, I could think up a doozy to explain the bandage on the top of my head. The accident occurred mainly because I had given in to my wife's wishes to adopt a cute little kitty.

Initially, the new acquisition was no problem. Then one morning, I was taking my shower after breakfast when I heard my wife call out to me from the kitchen. 'Honey! The garbage disposal is dead again. Please come reset it.' 'You know where the button is,' I protested through the shower pitter-patter and steam. 'Reset it yourself!' 'But I'm scared!' she persisted. 'What if it starts going and sucks me in?' There was a meaningful pause and then, 'C'mon, it'll only take you a second. 'So out I came, dripping wet and butt naked, hoping that my silent outraged nudity would make a statement about how I perceived her behaviour as extremely cowardly. Sighing loudly, I squatted down and stuck my head under the sink to find the button.

It is the last action I remember performing. It struck without warning, and without any respect to my circumstances. No, it wasn't the hexed disposal, drawing me into its gnashing metal teeth. It was our new kitty, who discovered the fascinating dangling objects she spied hanging between my legs. She had been poised around the corner and stalked me as I reached under the sink. And, at the precise moment when I was most vulnerable, she leap at the toys I unwittingly offered and snagged them with her needle-like claws. I lost all rational thought to control orderly bodily movements, blindly rising at a violent rate of speed, with the full weight of a kitten hanging from my masculine region. Wild animals are sometimes faced with a 'fight or flight' syndrome. Men, in this predicament, choose only the 'flight' option. I know this from experience. I was fleeing straight up into the air when the sink and cabinet bluntly and forcefully impeded my ascent. The impact knocked me out cold.

When I awoke, my wife and the paramedics stood over me. Now there are not many things in this life worse than finding oneself lying on the kitchen floor butt naked in front of a group of 'been-there, done-that' paramedics. Even worse, having been fully briefed by my wife, the paramedics were all snorting loudly as they tried to conduct their work, all the while trying to suppress their hysterical laughter...... and not succeeding.

Somehow I lived through it all. A few days later I finally made it back in to the office, where colleagues tried to coax an explanation out of me about my head injury. I kept silent, claiming it was too painful to talk about, which it was. 'What's the matter?' They all asked, 'Cat got your tongue?'

If they only knew! Why is it that only the women laugh at this?

SAVING MONEY THAT ISN'T THERE or NON-EXISTING MONIES

How is it possible to 'save' money that you don't have? The legislature seems to think by not paying for something, they have no money for, that it is saving money. I'll never understand how this works. If they have no money in the first place how is not paying something to be considered saving?

Yumul Identifies $12.6M in Potential Savings:
Rep. Ray N. Yumul said the government stands to save at least $12.6 million for the rest of the 2008 Fiscal Year if three recommended courses of action are implemented at once.
Here-in lies the big problem, did these idiots EVER do ANYTHING 'at once'? This will take two or three arguments over Stanley TLC's cooler, a week debate on the venue for the "we're still broke" message, a generator for the legislature, surely they can't work or accomplish anything without that, and 10 or more rescheduling of the session. What did I miss?
The House Way and Means chairman said he and his team of analysts have reviewed and analyzed the governor's recommendations and have come up with the following estimated cost savings that the government would realize if immediately put into action:
1- Reducing employer contribution to the Retirement Fund from 18 percent to 11 percent as requested by the governor. This is estimated to save $6 million on personnel costs;
OK, The government is not paying this now, so how is it saving money by continuing to not pay it? Count back since they stopped paying at all and you will have alot of money saved. Maybe the retirees can collect this non-existing cash for their non-existing retirement payments.
2- Passage of cost-cutting measures through the restoration of nine austerity Fridays ($2 million savings) and suspension of the remaining four non-paid legal holidays ($1.6 million savings) for the remainder of the fiscal year. Total estimated savings on personnel costs amount to at least $3.6 million;
Again there is no money for these salaries and costs, so where are the savings coming from?
And 3- Capping all government expenditures (remaining budget authority of about $105 million for the fiscal year) by prohibiting departments from spending all their allocations. At a minimum, this will save the government at least $3 million.
A-ha: The true form of saving money here, don't pay anything at all, and you will save it all, damn they should'a thought of this before. I want you to tell me how they figure this crap.

The only way I can see any benefit to these schemes is it may keep the 'o7 deficit from being $20 million and reduce it to $8 million, and keep the governor from balancing the budget for the 3rd straight year. What a shame to ruin his perfect balanced budget record. The light at the end of this tunnel is only an oncoming train....

1- The national Republican Party issued strict orders to all Republicans not to meet with Fitial or have their pictures taken with him, under penalty of being sanctioned, due to his toxic association with Jack Abramoff and Tom Delay.
2- The GOP also issued a directive that no Republican could oppose the CNMI takeover bill, again under penalty of sanctions, because any opposition to the bill would be seen as Republicans still doing Abramoff/Delay bidding, which could hurt the GOP in an election year.
3- The Military has suspended all plans for any military support on Tinian or prefabrication construction in the NMI, until Fitial is out of office, as punishment for his lobbying against the bill that would get the H workers needed for the base expansion.
4- The CNMI was stripped out of the bill to postpone any further minimum wage increases because Fitial is despised back in D.C.

Norita said he is not favor of making deals or plea agreements with recidivists as these only allow these individuals to avoid jail time. “We should throw the book at these people because they repeat the same crimes." “It is an issue that the detectives have brought up to me and it is an issue that we will bring up to the Attorney General and see what we can do about it,” he said.

This should also be pointed out to the judges who let them run with no jail time!

Fitial Wants 4 More Years:
GOVERNOR Benigno R. Fitial, who garnered nearly (only) 28 percent of the votes cast in the four-way race in 2005, yesterday announced that he will seek reelection next year. Fitial, whose winning margin was 84 votes, said this time there will be “better times” — his 2005 campaign promise — once he secures another term.

What the hell is gonna be different this time? Did he get smarter overnight, or plans to do so? Does four years of failure qualify you to be a success the next time? I don't think so!

He believes that he still have the political will and the resources that include international “business connections that would help me and my administration turn the economy around.”
Fitial admitted that the CNMI economy is experiencing a depression and this, he said, is why he and Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Villagomez are running again.

Oh, I get this one, he saved all those 'connections' he had to surprise us all, had the wool pulled over our eyes all this time. Now he will bring out the big buck developers, and make us all look foolish for even doubting him, I get it!
He said he and Villagomez, a former Commonwealth Utilities Corp. executive director, “will cure this CUC crisis.” Fitial said they will privatize CUC.

This is kinda like asking the fox to guard the hen house, the very person responsible for a large part of CUC's problems will now get to fix it. Pure Genius!
“We will not change that plan because we strongly believe that the most viable cure now is to bring in people or companies that are experienced in power plant generation, operation and development,” he added.

Yup, this plan is so successful it shouldn't be changed, CUC is just rolling along, free of any problems, a plan working like this one should never be screwed with!
In his speech before Covenant Party officers and members, Fitial said “the most constant thing in the world is change. So there is bound to be a change in our present economic situation.”
He said among his administration’s “achievements” is keeping the tourism industry in good shape.

Is that the same as "pretty darn good" we heard that before, didn't we? didn't work, now did it? The change he may be referring to is downward, we all know that too.
The CNMI is also developing a new industry — education, he added.

Maybe give a little thought to the local education program too? Ever think of that?
Fitial said more people are beginning to believe in what his administration is doing. “It’s very seldom that they see a governor and a lt. governor having the political will to do what is right. By sticking to this philosophy, the Covenant Party and the people of the commonwealth in general will support me and the lt. governor,” he said.

During the mid-term elections the Democrats promised everything everyone wanted to hear, haven't done diddly shit yet, won't either. Remember how the Dem's were going to stop the war if they controlled congress, well, did they? bullshitters. Now they want to give up in Iraq, to surrender, arguing who can fuck up faster, just when things are starting to work for the better, another failure in the making. I see this sliding away from any hopes the Dem's have the longer this drags on, and it will drag, all the way to the Democratic convention, and from there to November it will be all bitter and hurt feelings. And, NO, there will NOT be a toofer* ticket.

A man had lost one of his arms in an accident. One day he felt terribly depressed and decided to commit suicide. He got into an elevator and went to the top of a building to jump off. He started thinking, what am I doing up here feeling sorry for myself. I still have one good arm to do things with. There goes a man with no arms skipping down the sidewalk happy and going on with his life. He hurried down to the street and caught up to the man with no arms. He told him how glad he was to see him because he had lost one of his arms and felt ugly and useless and was going to kill himself. He thanked him again for saving his life and he knew he could make it with one arm if that guy could go on with no arms. The man with no arms began dancing and kicking up his heels again. The one armed man asked, "why are you so happy anyway?" He said, "I'm NOT happy .... my ass itches!

It was a small town and the patrolman was making his evening rounds. As he was checking a used car lot, he came upon two little old ladies sitting in a used car.! He stopped and asked them why they were sitting there in the car. Were they trying to steal it? 'Heavens no, we bought it.' 'Then why don't you drive it away.' 'We can't drive.' To use monies belonging to NMI descent to rehabilitate CUC engines is quite not right. I know that it is not right because the stakeholders (customers) for CUC include individuals who are not NMI descent. As such, to spend NMI descent monies on CUC will greatly benefit those individuals who are not NMI descent. This action is wholly contrary to the intent of the CNMI Constitution. This is utterly not right!

To use federal monies, from U.S. taxpayers for CIP funds, food stamps, school supplies and buses, health vaccines, disaster relief, and many, many more federally funded agencies and assistance programs must be stopped NOW! These funds might benefit everyone, not only people of NMI decent, this may be unfair to someone else, this isn't 'right' I know it isn't! In as much as spending federal funds to rehabilitate CUC this should not be done either, we will use the same reason as stated above, it might benefit everyone and not only 'the special ones'. This just wouldn't be 'right'.

Stop benefiting all the people, help just the select few that are deserving.

This is basic simple business economics. Everyone knows this it seems, except our legislature. CUC is presently not on track. With the lowered residential power rates set last fall, just before the elections by some vote grubbing legislators wanting to get reelected, CUC is headed for a disaster. CUC will fold up, completely crash. It's only a matter of time if we stay on this self destructing course.

According to CUC's schedule of electric charges and rates released by the utility agency's Betty Diaz, the 17.6 cents per kWh fuel rate will be implemented due to Public Law 15-94.

If the legislature doesn't set rates of income to equal or exceed the rate of expenses the end is inevitable. CUC will self destruct. You don't have to have a math degree to figure this out, it's just amazing our government can't fathom this simple fact.

This is not a swing in the dark at a prediction of the future, but a clear and definite fact.

Under the present modus operandi it will fail. It's as simple as that...

According to Torres, the government is short of revenue hence the House is still trying to find a “balance” between helping CUC get funding for its fuel subsidy and lessening the burden on customers paying high power rates.
So far all is well and good. We recognize the government is short of money. Maybe we should just say it's 'flat ass broke' and getting even deeper in the hole.

Torres said some members of the House are looking into reducing the tax rebates.
However, he admitted that some private individuals will be against it since there are many who have not yet received their refunds from the government for some time.
Let's look at this brain damaged idea:
There is no money to pay rebates. Are we together on this? Now the idea is to take this non- existing money and use it to support CUC. Tell me how that works, so maybe you and I can use this kind of funds to pay our utility bills too. Let's take the I.O.U.'s from the government tax returns and present these worthless items to CUC to pay our power bills. Should work the same way, don't ya think?
What do these numb-nuts think about all day? Are they 'high'? Taking non-existing money from tax rebates and supporting CUC with it, probably will buy us some non-existing power!
I suggest they also use the same non-existing rebate funds to buy the generator and parking lot the legislature so badly needs.
On the other hand if there IS money for tax rebates, then pay the rebates! What are you waiting for? Interest to collect on the millions of dollars sitting there with no intended purpose?
He added, “We want to help CUC buy a new engine to put an end to these frequent power outages due to its malfunctioning power engines.”

IT'LL RUIN THE ECONOMY

This is the constant cry for everyone against anything. Raise the wages .50 cents, "it'll ruin the economy". Federalization taking over a failed labor and immigration department, "it'll ruin the economy".

Federal labor laws replacing slave labor laws, "it'll ruin the economy".
Now here's how I see it.
First there is no viable economy to be ruined, they have already done a complete and thorough job with that already, and a 'darn good one' at that. So throw out that lame ass excuse I don't buy it, Do you?
The real reasons, as I see it, is that the governor is afraid of losing his power, his thumb over all the 'little' people. He will lose control in making little self serving deals with new investors. He will lose his kiss my ass or lose your job position, a feeling of grandiose, I guess. He will lose the secrecy he is allotted when he wants to bullshit about what he wants you to believe. Having federal agents hanging around who may see through all this greed of power might get in his way, tell on him, someone that can't be squashed or threatened.
The real reason is not the economy, but greed and power.

Simple as that, all in a nut shell.

M20- NO MORE RULES

THE GOVERNMENT IS NOW IN CHARGE, TRASHING THE TRASH OPERATION

A good friend of mine

'Mike' used to work for the independent landfill company who was hired by the Babauta administration to manage the daily operations of the Marpi landfill, shown here.

Having this close friend in charge I had privy to a lot more information about how a landfill should be operated then I really needed to know. One thing that he was adamant about was the strict rules set to control exposed garbage.

Rule # 1 was to be strictly followed:

All exposed garbage shall be covered at the end of every day and shall be covered with a minimum of 6" of soil.

This was required for a number of reasons, to control flies, keep odor down, eliminate fire hazards, keep it from blowing away and in general keep it sanitary and neat.

Then the Fitial administration came into power and took over the daily operations of the landfill, run by DPW. So now it seems all the rules are out the window. As you can see here, this picture was taken on a Saturday afternoon, and there surely won't be any operations until Monday morning, and no soil would probably be spread any sooner than Mon. PM. Also the amount of exposed trash is not one day of accumulation but probably a weeks worth or more.

This garbage has not been covered for many days and who knows when it will be covered? So where are the rules about covering the trash daily? I guess they feel the rules are no longer needed as you can see by the amount of uncovered and exposed trash in the picture.

This is unacceptable, but why be surprised, that's how things work here.

Is there a functioning DEQ, or an EPA office to check this out? Or will this be overlooked?

It also makes me understand the reason for his wife saying what she did a few weeks ago. His wife stated, after Obama won in some primaries that, " This is the first time in my life that I've been proud of my country". We used to buy a 50-lbs sack of rice for $21.99. These days, we buy it for $23.99-a hefty $2 increase in just a month's time. (Saipan Resident)
Han Nam Market, which used to sell 50-lbs Golden Phoenix rice for $19.95 each, had also raised its price to $23.95 early last month. Store manager Mr. Ju said they've just received another notice from their wholesaler informing them that the price of rice will once again increase in its upcoming shipment. “So it's better if you buy rice now because the price will rise again this coming container,” Ju said.
So it's going up again, next month, is this taken into consideration by the anti-wage increase proponents? Or they looking the other way, again?
Lets take a look at some of the relationships between wages and prices...
We'll start here with Minimum Wage before deductions...
$3.55 per hour. $28.40 per day . $142.00 per week.
So staying with a 50 lb bag of rice = 1 days pay.
14 gal of gas = 2 days pay.
A $14.00 meal for 2 at the 360 = 1 days pay. Total so far 4 days.
Now we have got a bag of rice, 3/4 tank of gas and 2 '360' meals. Toodle looo.
Now we have the last day for food, power, rent, clothing, taxes, and many, many more expenses. How is this suppose to work...It's simple, IT DON'T! Never did, never will!

BELOW IS A SCHEMATIC OF THE AESystem
This is simple in design and should last for many years. The concept is simple, hot water out = hot water in, no need for electricity to be used in the heating process.
More research tells me that 25% of your power bill is for heating hot water in the average household. So check your bill and deduct 25%, that would be your savings each month. Now take the cost of an AESystem ($1,000 to $1,200) and divide that by the 25% taken from your bill. This is how many months it would take to pay the initial investment.
Example: Your bill is $400 X 25% = $100. Therefore if you spend $1,200 on the AESystem it will be paid in 12 months, and you will have 9 or more years of operation with out any costs.
You figure...

Should we get some cool cloudy or sunless days your heater will work just as it always did therefore you will never miss having hot water.... Simple!

One other added benefit for home and business owners... Imagine the additional amount of value added to your property. If you should decide to sell your property, the simple fact that you can mention there is a built in solar heater will increase the value many more times than what you initially paid for it...

Is it the United States of America or the Seperate States of America?
Why is it when the people of the NMD can't find work or opportunities to advance to a higher standard of living for themselves and their families here, they always seek out the better standards of work, living, schools, the chance to own their own homes and businesses is in the USA, the US Mainland, Hawaii or Guam. Can't make it here? go to greener pastures, where you will be welcome as fellow US citizens with all the benefits and opportunities afforded to everyone else there equally.
No, you don't go to the SSA (Separate States of America) Where only the people from, lets say Nevada, for an example, can own a house or property there, can only be admitted to a collage as a foreigner and pay penalties through higher fees then Nevadans. The only job opportunities there were minimum wage jobs for 'outsiders' all good jobs went to ND's and land ownership was only to ND's, and you are only allowed to lease your home. How about if the golf fees would be $50 dollars for ND's and the 'foreigners', the NMD's would pay triple. Would you like that?
How would the United States work if it wasn't, well, united? If every single state operated as the CNMI and the MND's do now, nothing would be in harmony. People from New Jersey would have no business ownership opportunities in New York, nor could a high school graduate from Pennsylvania go to school in Ohio. People living in Michigan couldn't buy a winter home in Florida or a retiree from Minnesota move to live in Arizona. How messed up would that be?
How 'bout a terrorist strikes in New York and only New Yorkers would go to fight back? Would this be a united states? or a separate states?
Do you go to the US and find out after you are settled in and the living is good, the laws change and you are forced to go home for six months just so you won't be part of the community where you are living and working. Yes, living with your family, with your kids in school and your mortgage about to be paid off in the next ten years, (although that isn't a problem here) and suddenly a new law kicks you out, alienates you from your community, that would suck wouldn't it? Do you live there under the threat that every time a different governor is elected your stability is compromised and you could lose your job or a new labor official would deem you not qualified to work there and send you back to the CNMI? A kick in the ass, yes?
Would you like to be treated in the US, as you are now, 'united' or would you like to be treated as people are here,'separately' as anyone other than a NMD is here? Shouldn't things be equal on both sides and be 'united' and treated equally? or as the case is here, 'separate' and treated differently. No, it's not the SSA, its the USA and as long as any entity such as the CNMI wants to be 'separate' and operate differently, things will not work for them as it works for us.
Be wholly a part of the US and act like you are, or do nothing at all and go it alone, you can't sit on the fence. As someone once said,"you are either with us or you are against us," there is no middle road. You oppose federalization yet hold out your hands for assistance every time you can't make it yourselves. You don't want people to receive a livable wage , yet you want to be given all the perks and to live as US mainlanders. You don't pay taxes to the US, yet you want US passports and benefits. You are protected around the clock by the mighty US military yet you don't want them to practice here. (FDM and Crisostimo plan). Is it the cake and eat it too theory?
Now I'm not telling you what you should do but rather what you should think about...

But Dela Cruz said he is willing to make Hocog’s proposal “work.”

He said that although victory in the conventional political sense is not available in the presidential race, many victories have been achieved due to the hard work and enthusiasm of his supporters.
So does this mean he will drop out soon? I think it's probably a good bet. Even though the nomination is sewn up he has still been hanging in there. Maybe were seeing the beginning of the end....

The 39-year-old player, whose real name is John Henry Isenhour III, became angry while filming “Shoot Like A Pro” on Dec. 12 at the Grand Cypress Golf Club—his home course—when a squawking red-shouldered hawk forced another take. He got in his golf cart and drove closer to the bird, then 300 yards away, and starting hitting balls at it. The bird didn’t move and Isenhour gave up and drove away. Isenhour started again when the hawk moved within about 75 yards, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer Brian Baine indicated in a report.

Isenhour allegedly said, “I’ll get him now,” and aimed for the hawk. “About the sixth ball came very near the bird’s head, and (Isenhour) was very excited that it was so close,” Baine wrote. A few shots later, witnesses said he hit the hawk. The bird, protected as a migratory species, fell to the ground bleeding from both nostrils. “As soon as this happened, I was mortified and extremely upset and continue to be upset,” Isenhour said in a statement issued through his management company, SFX Golf. “I want to let everyone know there was neither any malice nor deliberate intent whatsoever to hit or harm the hawk. I was trying to simply scare it into flying away.”

Who would ever thought that a golfer could hit the hawk yet alone kill it? What a travesty....

M7- TWISTER DISASTER

A TWISTER WAS COMING, EVERYONE PREPARED

In DeLand, Florida the twister was approaching fast, everyone did what they had to do. The twister arrived and passed after a few minutes of severe damage and confusion. Everyone was reduced into a tangled mess, all clothing was lost as the twister took its toll.

THE PLACE TO GET A LOAN.. IS THE PLACE YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY IT BACK...

What a way to run a business, any other private business would be gone by now. So the question is... Who is taking these losses? Where does CDA get their money to lend out, ( or should I say give away)? They must print it to be able to operate at such a horrific loss.

As of Dec. 31, 2007, about 63 percent of the Commonwealth Development Authority's direct loans were in delinquent status. This translates to about $15.76 million in loans that are in default. According to a report compiled by acting executive director Oscar Camacho, the 63 percent does not include other outstanding balances such as the debt relief program, judgment, bankruptcy, buybacks, and matured loans. If factored into the equation, this will boost the delinquency rate to 80 percent. The CDA had loaned out a total of $36.275 million by end of December last year. Of the 194 total number of borrowers, 179 are delinquent. The report stated that, by just looking at the numbers, it would seem as if 92 percent of CDA borrowers are delinquent and 80 percent of the amount loaned out is delinquent.
Is there any other way to look at a lending institution THEN by the numbers? Do these poor judgment lenders use pictures too. This is a travesty of stupidity and ignorance all in one befuddled mess. Jeezzzzuss!

Now I'll go out on a limb and guess (bet) that the majority of the delinquents are, were or are wannabe politicians, whats your best bet? Don't take this one I'll win for sure...
