ABOUT LIGHTS FOR THE PATHWAY AT BEACH ROAD
Why can't we get some lights to work on the Beach Road pathway? Night time would be an excellent time to jog, walk or otherwise exercise when it is not too hot, but the lack of lights along the path makes it an undesirable activity at the least. Why can't something be done to correct this situation? Now I know wire thieves caused most of these problems and continue to be the cause of the lights not being repaired, see news article.......Waki asks DPS to seriously probe stealing of copper wires at DPW......
Representative Absalon Waki has appealed to the Department of Public Safety to conduct a serious investigation into last year's theft of $60,000 worth of copper wires that were placed at the Department of Public Works' storage room. The congressman said the stolen 14,000 feet of copper wires were intended to fix the lights at the Beach Road pathway. For tourism's sake, for economic reasons, and for the health and welfare of our people who love walking at night because it's not as hot as day, they don't walk in a dark area, they need to be fixed.” Waki told Saipan Tribune. Rep. Waki has it right, this just cannot be ignored, we need to fix the lights!

So, how about going solar, no wires to buy, no wires to steal, no wires to install, no power bills, no problem! Solar lights are virtually operational and trouble free, coming on at dusk, turning off at daylight and producing their own power during daytime hours. It couldn't be any easier, place the light on the pole and that's it. DPW think about it, E-mail me if you need help to figure it out..... .........GED........
