303- LIBERATION MONTH

EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT! HERE NOW!
Liberation month starts today, June 1st and runs thru July 5th. Read this excerpt from the newspaper......
The Commonwealth will kick off the commemoration of the 61st Liberation Day and 229th American Independence Day tonight at the Garapan Fishing Base, beginning with the opening ceremony at 6pm at the carnival ground. “We are inviting the general public to the opening of the 2007 Liberation Day festivities,” he said. After the brief opening ceremony, entertainment will follow from 7 pm to 12 midnight. Tonight's entertainment will be provided by Ridgeline Renegade Band, Island Believers, Inatuas Group, Ben Ayuyu, Te-lvi Maori Group, and Maluw Band. Guerrero said the committee is promising another year of great entertainment and a truly festive atmosphere, especially on July 4th. The festivities, however, will have major change this year beginning with the schedule for the Liberation Day parade. Instead of holding the event in the morning of July 4, Guerrero said the parade would take place sometime in the afternoon. Guerrero said the time change would allow people to go directly to the festival grounds for the program after the parade. He said there would also be off-island entertainers on that day, as there will be a 100-member Korean orchestra and Japanese group that have confirmed their participation. From last year’s over 50 vendors, the committee has decided to limit the number to only 30. Logistics and Fireworks Committee chair, said they would still make sure the community enjoys the display on June 1, July 4, and July 5. Make sure you get out and enjoy the festivities. Now be sure to celebrate and have a wonderful evening! .........GED.......
