$4M check issued to CUC missing
A GOVERNMENT check in the amount of $4 million that was supposed to pay for the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.’s fuel purchases two years ago never reached the agency, Variety learned yesterday.
Rep. Joseph C. Reyes, R-Saipan, said 16 documents transmitted to his office from the Commonwealth Development Authority and the Office of the Public Auditor indicated that the $4 million check issued to CUC on July 7, 2006 wasn’t used for its intended purpose.

Now here's the funny part...It took 'um two years to find out that they lost it....
I guess it's let your imagination run wild here, where oh where could it be, now I don't know for sure but as I see it right now CUC still owes Mobile the $4 million, Is that how you see it too?
Did CUC swallow the money, and not pay Mobile or is it shoddy bookkeeping and the records are in error? Or did CUC never recieve the check, then the gov. still ows CUC. What a mess!

When the Head of CUC and it's head accountant for CUC are brother and sister, that can sometimes happen (misplacing 4 million).
I was waiting for someone to create a blog on this one. Thanks Glen. As for, how in the world does one lose $4M. It's no biggie. Funds in the government get lost all the time that's why it's broke. Now, if the use of the money is tracked down and spent inappropriately, this will be a good reason to initiate impeachment.
Someone should really look into this and my caddy remarks aside, someone needs to track down that money, whether CUC or the Administration, someone has to literally pay for it!

OPA and Mike Sablan are probably one of the straightest shooters in this government. I think he should track it. Again though he still is under the gov.'s thumb.

Glen, $4 million missing is just the tip of the iceberg. How does CUC justify giving Tinian Dynasty a million dollar credit for power while cutting off Joe Citizen for failing to pay his hundred dollar bill? How do we allow a convicted felon to work as a "consultant" for the Tinian Gaming Commission and make off with a reported $800,000? How do we justify giving QTC's to big corporations when they won't be contributing much-needed taxes and certainly won't reward locals with managerial jobs, instead hiring from off island?? How can an attorney working for the former MPLA make $600,000 in overtime over the course of two years, cross out "MPLA" and put his name on a check, and still not be in jail?! The ship is no longer sinking...it has already sunk! We are just not aware of it yet.
Clean Government 2009 is our only chance of salvation. My dream is to put the OBN out of jobs and have them go out and make an honest living at $4.05 an hour. Perhaps then they will finally realize that our minimum wage cannot sustain or feed a family.
Tina Sablan is looking for a fresh batch of faces to form a coalition to retake our government. I hope more people come forward to serve our beloved Commonwealth, and put an end, once and for all, to the self-serving, inept, incompetent OBN.

I was thinking of, and this is the first time to put it in writing but I think we should organize a Tina Support Group, I was/am going to mention it to Tamara. The girl is working hard among the obn and gets overridden at times. I think a group of growing backers would be a great idea... It would give her more clout...
